Porcelain Veneers
Are there imperfections in your teeth that have been bothering you? Issues such as stains, minor misalignment, and chips and cracks don’t affect your overall dental health, but most certainly can affect your confidence. We offer a number of treatment solutions designed to improve the appearance of your teeth, and porcelain veneers are one of them!
What Are Porcelain Veneers?
Porcelain veneers, sometimes called dental veneers, are ultra-thin pieces of porcelain that can be placed over your teeth in order to disguise their imperfections. As the name implies, they are constructed out of high-quality dental porcelain, which is extremely durable and bears a strong resemblance to natural enamel.
If your teeth have any of the following imperfections, veneers may be the ideal solution for you:
- Chips and cracks
- Minor misalignment
- Stains
- Teeth that are too small
- Small gaps between the teeth
Before recommending porcelain veneers, our team will carefully examine your teeth to make sure that they are healthy enough to undergo a cosmetic treatment. You should be free of gum disease, have an adequate amount of tooth enamel, and stick to solid daily oral hygiene habits.
Why Porcelain Veneers?
Beyond giving you a fabulous smile, some of the benefits that porcelain veneers offer include:
Longevity
Veneers typically last for at least 7-10 years.
Stain Resistance
Porcelain is nonporous, which means that it does not absorb pigment like natural tooth enamel.
Custom Results
Everything about your veneers, including their size, shape, and color, will be tailored to complement your natural oral anatomy and facial characteristics.
The Porcelain Veneer Process
Our team has years and years of experience navigating the porcelain veneer journey:
- Our team will begin the veneers process by getting to know what your goals and expectations are for your new smile.
- We’ll prepare teeth to receive the veneers by removing a sliver of enamel from them —this step ensures that the veneers won’t make your teeth look bulky.
- Our team will take scans of your teeth.
- Those scans, along with detailed design notes, will go to the laboratory that will fabricate your veneers. You’ll wear temporary veneers while the laboratory creates your permanent ones.
- When your permanent veneers are ready, you’ll return to our office for a second appointment.
- Dr. Hughes will ensure that your custom veneers are a perfect fit for your teeth before they are permanently attached.
